Direct Payments are seen as making an important contribution to the independence, well-being and quality of life of people with care needs.
Direct payments allow you to receive cash payments from your local authority instead of care services. This can give you much more flexibility and greater control of your support package. This page has information about what direct payments are, and where you can find more detailed information.

- We have a 24-hour emergency helpline which means we can respond to emergencies
- We don’t charge any additional costs for Bank Holidays (for Live-In care)
- We have a rigorous recruitment, selection and training process meaning we only choose people to work for us, if we would choose them to look after someone we love.
- All Support Workers attend a full induction and training programme prior to starting with us and are then trained to Diploma Level
- All Support Workers are reference checked and have a full satisfactory DBS check
We are a Real Living Wage Employer, ensuring our Support Workers are paid generously and fairly for their work.

Support at Home have been very proactive in relation to Coronavirus.
We have continued to operate an exceptional service which offers consistency, continuity, reassurance and safety.
We introduced a Buddy System in March. The was our best shot at minimising risk by reducing the number of people that our clients and our carers came in to contact with.
To improve upon this, our amazing Support Workers worked for 7 days every week. This helped us to ensure that they were the only ones that visited their clients.
As we enter our 10th week of lockdown, we have carefully introduced a day off for all Support Workers which means they can now enjoy a well-deserved rest and time with their own, much loved families.
This has been assessed and implemented, taking every precaution possible to maintain the reduced risk that we have seen within our service.
We have only had 2 cases of Coronavirus within our service. Each case was sadly contracted in a hospital setting. The Buddy System came to show its full potential as we were able to contain the virus and limit the spread.
Our support workers and office staff have so much to be proud of as it is due to their hard work and commitment to protecting our clients and each other, that we have all kept as safe as possible.
Our business has continued to thrive during these uncertain times.
We continue to ensure that we have ample supply of PPE, including face masks. It is our policy that all Support Workers should wear face masks for all visits.
